Congenital genetic anomaly affecting reproductive system. Intersex animals have a reproductive system that has both male and female components. For true hermaphroditism, the development of the genital tract is usually typically female and the external appearance is most often female-type, but these animals exhibit both testicular and ovarian tissues.

Anomalie génétique congénitale touchant l'appareil reproducteur. Les animaux intersexués possèdent un appareil reproducteur qui présente à la fois des éléments du mâle et de la femelle. Pour l'hermaphrodisme vrai, le développement du tractus génital est habituellement typiquement femelle et l'apparence externe est le plus souvent de type femelle, mais ces animaux présentent à la fois des tissus testiculaires et ovariens.
