High-throughput screening (HTS) is a method of scientific experiment which is used in drug discovery. It involves large scale screening of perturbagens against a biological target and requires robotics, liquid handling devices, sensitive detectors and data processing. The results of these experiments provide starting points for drug design or understanding the role of a specific biological process. In HTS, greater than 100,000 compounds are screened per assay.
