Abnormality of the intrinsic pathway
The intrinsic pathway requires coagulation factors VIII, IX, X, XI, and XII, as well as the proteins prekallikrein (PK) and high-molecular-weight kininogen (HK or HMWK), in addition to calcium ions and phospholipids secreted from platelets.
