Occipital neuralgia
Typically, the pain of occipital neuralgia begins at the base of the head and spreads upward within the distribution of the greater and lesser occipital nerves. Characteristically, it is neuropathic, with paroxysmal episodes of shooting electric shock-like symptoms.
