Androgen receptor protein that is missing the amino acids encoded by exons 5-7 and part of the 5' end of exon 8 of the human AR gene. This variant protein contains nuclear receptor transcriptional activation and DNA binding domains and is missing the nuclear receptor ligand binding and activation function-2 domains. Expression of this variant is associated with a gain-of-function phenotype and may be associated with prostate cancer. [ ]
