Vasculostatin is an extracellular domain in brain-specific angiogenesis inhibitor 1 that is released by cleavage at a conserved G-protein-coupled receptor proteolytic cleavage site at a serine at amino acid 927. The released molecule has an RGD integrin binding motif and five thrombospondin type 1 repeats. (Oncogene (2005) 24, 3632-3642.)
