Definition
- A physical quantity given by the volumetric flow entering a control volume divided by the size of the control volume; the quantity must be given in the unit 1/hour. In heterogeneous catalysis the volume of the undiluted catalyst bed is used as characteristic control volume. In case of gases the flow at reference conditions (0°C, 100 kPa = 1 bar) is used.
